Wikipedia ‘Edit-a-thon’ to mark the Gallipoli campaign at the National Library Wales
14 / 04 / 2015To mark the centenary of the beginning of the Gallipoli campaign on the 25th of April 1915 this event will focus on creating and improving Wikipedia articles about the Welsh regiments involved the battles, the soldiers and their achievements.
The event will be hosted by the Wikipedian in Residence Jason Evans. It will begin at 10am with introductions and training before editing begins! The bilingual ‘Edit-a-thon’ will include training on how to edit Wikipedia and all editing will be supervised by experienced Wikipedians.
It’s a great chance to highlight the Welsh perspective on this important chapter of the war using the largest and most viewed encyclopaedia in the World. Welsh speakers will also be encouraged to edit the Welsh ‘Wicipedia’, which would help grow the amount of information available in the Welsh language.
