Events within Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Cemeteries and Memorials
04 / 03 / 20142014 marks the start of the First World War centenary, as well as the 70th anniversary of a number of major Second World War engagements. As a result, many commemorative events are being planned worldwide, a large number of which will be hosted in the cemeteries and memorial sites within the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s (CWGC) care.
As governments, regiments and associations confirm their events plans, the CWGC is compiling a comprehensive calendar of all events due to take place within our sites.
This will enable us to assist with everyone’s arrangements, to ensure there is no overlap of events, to aid the planning of all horticulture and maintenance works within our cemeteries and finally inform the general public via our website where and when events will be taking place.
Please could all organisers fill in a copy of the attached form and return it to the CWGC, ideally no later than eight weeks prior to an event taking place (or earlier if possible).

The CWGC will then confirm with the you whether the site is available, discuss any possible clashes with other events and schedule the event into the calendar. As the forthcoming period is very busy, should we not receive the event planning form prior to the event, the CWGC cannot guarantee the cemetery will be available and free from our staff for the duration of any unscheduled events.
We would really value your support with this new process.
